■ Lil Wayne, Tha Carter III The expectations were set so high & he delivered. He had monster singles & he took his image to a whole new level. It was dope to see someone pull that off in todays music market.

These were available as free downloads, and featured a lot of special guests and collaborations. I was lucky enough to feature on all 3 in one way or another (including the production of all the intros, and some co-productions with Buck). They are all like long mixtapes and have some amazing work from him, with some radical styles and really exciting ideas. A set of inspirational and straight up superb music!

■ Alias : 'Resurgam' (Anticon)
I've been a huge fan of Alias since all those years ago when Anticon was just getting started (and the Deep Puddle Dynamics music as well - the Anticon posse record!), and seeing his progression over the years has been so interesting. His style now is like a mix of really fat and hard hitting, straight up boom-bap mixed with electronic and glitchy production, with some lovely melodies in there as well. There are a couple of tracks on 'Resurgam' that I just love but start to finish, it's hard to fault.
僕はアンチコンが結成されたばかりの頃からエイリアスの大ファンで (ディープ・パドル・ダイナミックスはアンチコンのクラシックのレコードだね!)、その後の彼の進歩を見ることは本当に楽しかった。現在の彼のスタイルはファットでハード、エレクトロニックとグリッチーなプロダクションがミックスされたストレートなブーン・バップ。さらに愛らしいメロディーも加わっちゃう。このアルバムでも数曲大好きな曲があるけど、最初から最後まで通して聴くと、欠点をあげるのが難しい。
Prolyphic & Reanimator : 'The Ugly Truth' (Strange Famous Records)
A superb and straight up hip hop album which has it nailed down on all levels - beats, lyrics, artwork, the whole lot! I've been into Reanimator for years, since I first heard his 'Music To Slit Wrists By' (back when it was on the Litterthugz label!) but now on Strange Famous Records, it's all linked properly and with Prolyphic's rhymes over his production, it's a really tight and very satisfying hip hop record.
ビート、リリック、アートワークなど全てのレベルにおいて、最高でストレート・アップなヒップホップ・アルバム! リアニメーターのことは、ストレンジ・フェイマスからの再発以前のリッターサッグスから出た初版のファースト・アルバム以来、ずっと追っているんだ。プロリフィックのライミングが、リアニメーターのプロダクションに適切にリンクしていて、本当にタイトでとても満足いくヒップホップのレコードだよ。
■ People Under The Stairs : 'Fun DMC' (PUTS)
I've always been really into PUTS and whether they do just straight up party music or something a little more listener-orientated, it's always really decent. Here they just deliver some absolute quality hip hop and it's well up to par with everything else they've done. Very enjoyable!
PUTSがただのパーティー・ミュージックをやったり、ちょっとリスナーに媚び売ったりしようが、僕は常に彼らにハマってた。常にちゃんとしてる。このアルバムは完璧なクオリティのヒップホップで、今まで以上のレベルに到達してる。とても楽しめるアルバム!
■ Tempa : 'Time To Run' EP (2600 Recordings)
This is just marvellous. Tempa has a really well refined ear for those obscure and rich sounds, and here he's weaved them all together to make something very different and with a real individual flair. This is great stuff for hip hop fans but there is more to it than just that...

I have just finished the final mixes for a new project named
'Well' ( Demune and Cleen), entitled 'Dreamers.' It is a combination
of traditional and abstract hip hop styles. This release will have 8
tracks, 3 instrumental and 5 songs with vocals. Artwork done by
Albane (Paris, France). We expect to release this album in February.
僕とクリーンでやってる新しいプロジェクト "ウェル" としてリリースする "ドリーマーズ" というアルバムの最終ミックスをちょうど終えたところで、これは正統派のヒップホップとアブストラクトなスタイルのコンビネーション。インスト3曲とラップ入り5曲の計8曲のリリース。アートワークはパリのアルベイン。2月にリリースしたいって考えてるんだ。
A few months later I expect to release the 'Incinerator, Demune, Wormhole' album on Dis Eased Records. This releases style has more of a metal, glitch, aggressive hip hop sound. This album should have about 10 songs on it and feature, Ceschi, Noah 23, Ucok, Mole, Ghesol, Staplemouth, Sapience and more. Artwork done by Imaone (Tokyo, Japan)
数ヶ月後にはディジーズド・レコーズから、僕とインシネレイター、ワームホールの共作アルバムをリリースしたい。このリリースのスタイルは、もっとメタルでグリッチー、アグレッシブなヒップホップのサウンドになってる。多分10曲ほど収録予定で、チェスキーやノア23、ユーコック、モール、ジェッソル、ステイプルマウス、サピエンスなどが参加してる。アートワークは東京のイマワンが手掛けてるよ。

Hello Japan!!! "Third" is my favorite album in a long time, maybe even since the 80s. This one is a perfect album from start to finish. Most of the other music I listened to this year was older stuff. I'm always listening to groups like Big Audio Dynamite, Eno, Devo, The Art of Noise, Thomas Dolby...that stuff never gets old to me. And when I'm in the car, I love to turn up the radio really loud and listen to Drum and Bass!
日本のみんな、こんにちは!!! (ポーティスヘッドのアルバム) "サード"は長い間の僕のお気に入りのアルバムで、多分80年代まで振り返ってみても一番かもしれないな。最初から最後まで完璧なアルバム。それ以外の2008年に聴いた音楽のほとんどは古い音源。

I got a Japanese album dropping in April with Mestizo, Luckyiam, Seeda(Japanese rapper). I also invented a touchscreen + 32 drumpad MPC like production center, with a team at Stanford University, and a beatbox to MIDI controller.
